What does it take to lead from the heart--with a dose of passion thrown in? Karen Putz has been involved in non-profit leadership for 28 years, as a founder, board member, and staff. She is a certified Passion Test Facilitator.  In this interactive workshop, Karen will show how you how to tap into the energy of passion and use it as fuel to become the best possible leader you can be. You'll learn how to identify what brings you joy and discover the three clues and seven principles to passionate leadership. When you find yourself hitting a wall as a leader, you'll learn the power of a pivot and how you can take on a fresh perspective and blaze a new path.

Looking for a Convention Roommate?

If you are looking for a roommate for this year's Convention, please post your requirements on the HLAA Message Board or

In your post/email, make sure to include the following requirements and Judy will get back to you:
1. Male or Female
2. Have a room, need a room
3. Date of arrival and date of departure
4. Will/will not accept a service dog in the room
5. Will/will not accept a third roommate in the room (with a cot)

Leading With Passion Leadership Workshop at HLAA2018!





We are excited to announce that Karen Putz will be presenting this year's Leadership Workshop at HLAA2018 Convention on Wednesday, June 20 from 2-4 p.m. in the State/Chapter Room. Karen Putz is known as "The Passion Mentor" and is the author of "Unwrapping Your Passion, Creating the Life You Truly Want." Karen works for Hands & Voices as the co-Director of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Infusion. Karen grew up hard of hearing and became deaf from a fall while barefoot water skiing as a teen--and rediscovered her passion for the sport at the age of 44. She is the mom of three deaf and hard of hearing young adults. 

Karen's Leading with Passion workshop is intended for Chapter/State leaders and delegates and will cover a variety of topics including leadership goals, volunteer engagement, communication, and igniting your passion to be the best leader that you can be!
