What's in a Name?

Everything!

At HLAA Chapter and State organization meetings, participants share their experiences and information about a wide range of topics regarding hearing loss. That is the beauty of meeting other people with hearing loss face-to-face: getting the benefit of others' feedback. (And we don't bash any person or product, right??)

A word of caution if you want to promote a particular professional or product through email or in a newsletter: don't or at least write a disclaimer like the one in Hearing Loss Magazine, such as "The opinions are those of the author and not of HLAA. Inclusion of a product does not mean HLAA endorsement nor does exclusion of a product mean disapproval."

Thank you for spreading the word!

Chapter Leader vs. Coordinator

Hi, everyone! I have noticed that many HLAA Chapters call their leader a coordinator. If the chapter you help lead does this (and many in Pennsylvania in particular do this) please use the term "leader" or "president" instead, starting immediately. Making the switch will help reduce confusion with HLAA State Chapter Coordinators, those people appointed by HLAA National to be the main communicators between the chapters under their purview and HLAA (me). If you have any questions about this, please post a message on this blog or contact me via email (Chapters@hearingloss.org) or phone (301-657-2248, ext. 101).

May the new year bring you good health and joy.
