Web sites - What Do You Use?

Hi, everyone.

Does your Chapter/State organization have a website? If so, what platform do you use? Would you be willing to share your experience here on this blog? Many leaders have expressed interest in having a website but don't know where to begin. They (and I!) would be grateful for your input on the topic.

I hope that the New Year brings you good health and happiness.

  1. Yes, we have a website for the Capital Region chapter (Harrisburg, PA).
    It is: www.hlacapregion.org
We use Intuit SiteBuilder by Homestead. http://websitebuilder.intuit.com/get-a-website2-stpc?channel=ppc&cid=IM20370
It is a self-directed site, so I built it myself. I maintain it. It can cost as little as $150 a year but we chose to upgrade to include the major search engines so it costs us $300/yr.
We have definitely recruited new members through the site. We can also view how many people have logged onto the site per month.
    Good luck!

  2. I neglected to mention that a local audiologist subsidizes our website. We give them free advertising on our site of course by noting that it is sponsored by them with their website and number.

  3. I use Google Sites to maintain the HLAA Georgia web site. http://hearingloss-ga.org Google Sites is a free service. I am currently working on an education effort so people in Georgia Chapters can maintain their WEB site. Ron Vickery
