Any state or chapter question on your mind

Please invite any and all Chapter Members that you think would have an interest in talking about chapters and chapter activities. The chat room has undergone an upgrade since my last email so the instructions to get to the chat room changed slightly. * Here is How to Participate (no need to register):

1. Go to (5-10 minutes before web chat is scheduled)
2. Click on the "Log in to our Chat Room" button
3. Enter a username to use for the chat
4. Click on the "Connect" button
5. Click on the "Rooms" tab (found on right column)
6. Then double click on "Meeting_room" to join the Chapter chat

I suggest that you log into the chat room in advance to be sure you can log in without problems. You can do this anytime. If you do have a problem, I can work with you to resolve any software issues you may have. Check in to the chat room days before the meeting and let me know if you have problems.

A transcript of the chat will be available the following day. I will post it on the Chapter Blog and email you about it.

New leadership support web site (leaders Wiki) for state and chapter leaders

Many of you are preparing for a new meeting season so this is a busy time for you. To help make support more accessible for State and Chapter development leaders, a Wiki site has been created.

This new site called the leaders Wiki, replaces the old leadership support page. This site will be updated and new information added on a regular basis. If you need information that relates to chapter development, please check your new Wiki site first. This site is available 24/7.

Bookmark the new leaders Wiki as a favorite and check it often.

On the new site you will find new content.

  • The last 10 Chapter Development Blog posts
  • Power Point presentations
  • Chapter recognition programs - new ways to promote your chapter
  • Events Calendar
  • Twitter
Tweets on Twitter promoting chapters

Twitter and Facebook are all the rage and it is a great way to get the word out on your chapter. Take a look on the leader’s wiki for the HLAA posts (called tweets):

These Tweets went out on Twitter and Facebook in the last three weeks.

Chapter advocacy at work

After many years of trying to get her local library to subscribe to Hearing Loss Magazine, Lorraine Fanizza of Irvine, California has finally succeeded.

When asked how many years Lorraine is quoted as saying "Way too many! To me, it should have just happened long ago."

Persistence does pay off! Congratulations Lorraine and thank you for your grassroots advocacy.
